About My Approach to Therapy

Finding a therapist who is a good fit is an important first step in the process of building a freer, richer, more fulfilling life.

I would describe my approach to therapy as warm and collaborative. My goal is for therapist and client to be an active team in increasing awareness of patterns and behaviors, and creating a therapeutic plan to address specific goals that are meaningful and important to you. Throughout the process, I encourage self-compassion and acceptance of challenging thoughts and feelings, bringing a spirit of curiosity, creativity, and even playfulness (when appropriate) to the work.

Treatment is tailored to the individual, within a safe and supportive environment. I seek to build a trusting relationship as a foundation for growth, and incorporate principles and techniques from evidence-based treatment modalities, including:

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Mindful Self-Compassion Practice
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)

If you would like to schedule a free, 15 minute consultation, or you would like to make an appointment, please call me at (510) 224-3451.  You may also email me at vanessa@drvanessalowe.com but please keep emails brief as I cannot guarantee their security.

Required Good Faith Estimate and Fee Disclosure

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost, including psychotherapy services. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services, including psychotherapy.

You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service, or at any time during treatment.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 1-800-985-3059.
