Dr. Vanessa Lowe:
A collaborative, evidence-based approach to working with anxiety, stress and other life problems, to build a more vital and fulfilling life.
Welcome to my website and thanks for your interest in my practice! I am a licensed clinical psychologist in the San Francisco Bay Area, providing cognitive behavioral therapy to adults (18 years and older).
I am committed to helping clients identify and move towards what is most important to them, make meaningful and lasting change, and work with difficult thoughts and emotions in ways that foster more freedom in living.
My style is active, warm, and collaborative. My work draws from a variety of empirically based approaches, with an emphasis on mindfulness and self-compassion, and rooted in curiosity and respect.
I have education and experience working with adults with a wide range of issues and life problems, and I particularly enjoy working with people around anxiety and stress, including worry that is difficult to manage, social anxiety, panic attacks, phobias, work stress, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. Related therapy also addresses issues of self-care, effective communication, healthy boundaries, and improving overall well-being.
A natural and common response to anxiety and stress can be to shut down and try to avoid difficult feelings and sensations. However, this often results in a smaller, constricted-feeling life, where we are not doing and pursuing the things that really matter to us. Together we will identify your own goals and values, and we will work to help you move toward a more full, expansive and values-driven life.
I am currently providing both in-person and online therapy to adults who live in California.
